Sentosa Buskers Festival 2011

Hi Huneybees,

Sentosa Buskers Festival is back this September! It has returned for the second year with 13 acts from 8 countries and Sentosa has shifted it from November to September this year so that more kids get to come watch the performances during school holiday.

I was invited for a little sharing session with some of the performers, but tardy me was stuck in jam and only made it there last minute. So embarrassing right? I sat down and forgot everything that I wanted to ask, so I just said there listen in (for 10 mins before they left for break).

This year there are 12 acts  of acrobats, jugglers, mimes, puppeteers, comedians and human statues from all over the world. One whole variety of fun for all ages.

And since, I missed out on the interview, I tried to get some info from Aaron, who was in charge. Something different this year is that there will be a "SENTOSA GIVES" programme in collaboration with Community Chest. So be sure to give a little love whilst there!

After that, it was time for me to get ready to grab the best spot for the performances.... And perhaps a little camwhoring. :)

Volunteers were ready too...
The festival introduces its first Asian act from Japan (Senmaru & Yuki) involving juggling of teapots, cups and other daily objects.

Visual arts also takes the spotlight for the 1st time with John Gowdy's performance painting. The retired American blends fluid movements of paintings and sand-scattering with a rotating canvas to create spectacular portraits of familiar icons.

I'll be updating photos of each performance gradually, so stay tuned. In the meantime, why not head down to Sentosa with ya family? Just 4 more days left and don't forget to grab a brochure and check out their FB page as there might be some shuffling in the timetable.

The Festival is free of charge and is open to the public from 4pm to 10pm daily. All performances will be staged at 4 venues spread all over Sentosa: The Merlion Plaza, Imbiah Garden (Amphitheater), Songs of the seas (Forecourt) and Siloso Beach (Area opposite Skyline Luge Sentosa). Island admission charges apply and for more details, visit http://buskers.sentosa.com.sg or call 1800-SENTOSA.

P.S. I didn't manage to catch some performances, anyone free on Sunday?

Muahz,
Christina aka Huney
