JCube IMAX Experience

Woohoo! Not only JCube is a shopping paradise, they are also famous for its facilities. Other than the huge Skating Ice Rink, the JCube IMAX Theatre is another experience you must go for!

The cinema's just above the Skating Ice Rink.

I watched The Amazing Spiderman that day and I'm loving it! I watched the 2 movie twice and both times are at the Shaw IMAX Theatres. What makes the IMAX theatres different from the other 3D cinemas is the concave shaped screen that they call it the IMAX Theatre geometry. It is to maximize the depth of field and make you feel like you are totally in the movie.

Shaw Theatres JCube opened on 5 April 2012 with 7 screens, including an IMAX theatre, bringing Hollywood blockbusters and quality entertainment right to the doorsteps of residents in the west of Singapore. 

One thing I fear when watching a 3D movie is the distance between the screen and the seats. I remember once, I watched at another theatre and the distance between the first row of seats and the screen was super tight. I vomited bad after the movie.

But, for the IMAX Theatre, there is already like a huge distance from the screen. So even when I'm sitting on the 4th row, I'm watching the movie with comfort. Their 3D glasses are also amazing. I have to wear my glasses below the 3D glasses and most of the time I have to hold and support the 3D glasses but for the IMAX ones, my hands are free to eat popcorn! Yipee!!

IMAX Theatres are my first choice for movies enjoyment, go give it a try if you havn't. :)

Mirror Mirror On The Wall, Who's The Fairest Of Them All?

I just watched the last episode of Season 1 of ABC's TV Series Once Upon A Time. It's an American fantasy TV series about The Evil Queen bringing Fairy Tale Land to reality world, how are the characters going to remember who they were and get back to Fairy Tale Land?

In the TV Series, of course, Snow White and the Evil Queen was the foundation of the TV series, played by Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White/Mary Margaret) and Lana Parrilla (Evil Queen/Regina Mills). It's the same old same old battle between Snow White and the Evil Queen on who's the fairest of them all. Ginnifer Goodwin fitted the role exactly with her flawless beauty, so innocent, every Prince Charming would want to protect.

Lana Parrilla, played Evil Queen very well, so could be sweet looking to make the King fall in love with her, yet manipulative and destructive like any angry Evil Queen should be. This duo team was the ideal Snow White team that reflected the original fairy tale to a 'T'. Their beauty are almost equivalent, which must have been a tough choice for the Magic Mirror.

This year is the year of Snow White, there's  2 other movies this year that revolves around these 2 charming lady characters - Mirror Mirror / Snow White and the Huntsman.

So many versions of Snow White, so many versions of the Evil Queen. Mirror Mirror saw through the Snow White fairy tale with beautiful bright colours with glowy filters with a comedic adaptation. Lily Collins fitted what I always thought Snow White would look like in real life. Her fair skin, youthful charisma and the dark long tresses made her look as though she stepped right out of the Disney cartoon version of Snow White.

However, for Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen, I wasn't too much of a fan. She's still that Pretty Woman in my mind and she doesn't seem to exude any evil-ness in the movie. But the gorgeous Eiko Ishioka gowns she donned on, was something I bet every lady drool for.

In Snow White and the Huntsman, we get the Twilight babe - Kristen Stewart as Snow White. She's a darker version of the usual sweet looking Snow White who sings and dance around in the movie. Her sullen and hardly smile expression seems to be the Snow White that was tortured and have gone through a lot of hardships.There's nothing sweet about her, she's like young Xena in the movie.

 Alot of the attention was drawn by Charlize Theron in the movie. She was as evil as can be, with her gorgeous black gowns of bugs and feathers, her flawless skin was something that beat Snow White down right from the beginning of the movie.

In my opinion, my favourite Snow White would be Lily Collins and for Evil Queen, of course I choose Charlize Theron. Guess it will be fun to see another version of Snow White acted by them. What about you? Who do you like?

Luminance! - Singapore's First Youth Light Art Festival

 This is gona be a lengthy blog post with heaps of beautiful photos.

I was recently at Luminance! Singapore's first Youth Light Art Festival. *SCAPE is transformed into a light up village when the sky turns dark and it's a joy to enjoy art installations under the moonlight. Here's an introduction to the artworks. You got to be there in person to experience all the beauty and meet like-minded people as well....

You can opt to do:

• Self Guided Audio Tours - Look out for the "audio experience" QR code on selected art works and scan them. Let the music guide you and give an intuitive interpretation of the artworks.

• Meet the Artists - Enhance your festival expereince by getting to know the creative brains behind the art works. Scan the Qr codes on the light boxes placed just beside the art works and be instantly acquainted with the artists.

• Guided Tours - Guided tours are available for the duration of the festival. Approach the festival information booths on the Level 1 Street Market and Level 2 (next to escalator) to enquire about the tour timings and to sign up. It's FREE!

What is Luminance?

"Dreams and Aspirations" is chosen as the theme this year as it resonates well with the youths and young adults today. It is a platform for aspiring Singaporean artists to express their personal aspirations and social views through the whimsical yet dynamic medium of Light Art.

The concepts that precipitated from these emerging artists are an impressive diversity of community engagement, discovery of new technology and awareness about environmental sustainability.

Across a span of 9 days, this inaugural festival will showcase the manu hidden desires, tucked away dreams and aspirations of more than 40 first time youth artists and 5 local established artists. The total of 27 art pieces curated are powerful manifestations of the artists' dreams & aspirations containing messages such as the desire to live in a more sustainable city, the wish to create a less judgmental society, embracing the use of recycled materials and inspiring Singaporeans to have a greater aspiration for art.

It's made entirely from plastic bottles and there's even drawings from kindergarden kids in between. The lights changes colours and it send a super strong Save the Earth message...

Thrive - Khor Tuck Kuan and Christian Outreach To The Handicapped.

Thrive is a very beautiful piece of artwork that's done with the collaboration with the Christian Outreach To The Handicapped and under the help of Khor Tuck Kuan, Meiji bottles were carefully peeled of their labels and cut into shapes of Orchids and Tulips.

Yes, these were the bottles used.

 And Meiji was really nice, they're the official drink for Luminance!
Everyone gets a bottle of milk to drink while enjoying the art pieces...
