[Movie Review] Shark Night 3D

Hi Huneybees,

I was very honored to be invited to the press screening of Shark Night 3D. It is a film directed by David R. Ellis, who is the same guy who brought us "Snakes on a Plane" and "Final Destination 5".

Starring: Sinqua Walls, Alyssa Diaz, Joel David Moore, Chris Carmack, Sara Paxton, Chris Zylka, Katharine McPhee, Joshua Leonard, Christine Quinn, Donal Logue and Dustin Milligan

So I expected gore, some jumping-off-the-chair scenes, but I was kinda disappointed when most of the CQ had lighting flaws that don't match the surrounding background and some was obvious mechanical sharks. The director is a master of running full steam ahead when he has a joke on his hands. To compare, I would say this is not his best movie.

On seeing the poster, one would relate very much to "Jaws", which is very true. The movie starts off with a beautiful bikini girl and her boyfriend swimming in the lake, where she is quickly eaten by the shark when the guy leaves her. So yes, it establishes that yes, there are sharks going around eating people. But in the day! Simply right off the title right?

Basically, I can summarise the whole movie in just a sentence. A weekend at a lake house in the Louisiana Gulf turns into a nightmare for seven vacationers as they are subjected to shark attacks. *See! Told ya 1 sentence*

Like any shark movie, one by one, the characters in the movie gets bitten, eaten and yes, since it's a little island by its own, reception for phone was bad and they had to escape badly. I liked that they added a little twist to the story, so that it's not just simply shark eating people, but  won't spoil it for you.

However, something good about the movie is that it's Rated PG-13. There are simply no body parts tearing scene. No arms falling apart, eyes popping out of head, as most of the shark eating scene happens underwater, one will only see the character bobbing up and down the water screaming for help, then disappears underwater and a pool of red blood is seen. Pretty much like this photo...

Good right? Almost everyone can watch this movie while enjoying their popcorns. I would not really recommend this movie unless you are into bikini-clad girls, which I think I've seen better bodies. :)  This would be a great movie to pass time or simply to hide away from the "world" for roughly 2 hours. In fact, I think the movie would be better without 3D, guess lesser obvious flaws....

I give the movie 2.5 out of 5 popcorns.

The movie opens tomorrow in Singapore 6th October.
