Tokidoki creator Simone Legno, a huge fan favourite, will also be creating limited edition collectibles only available at STGCC.

From Asia, Japanese pop culture fans can look forward to meeting Chibi art illustrator CHANXCO and DJ Zanio from popular Japanese vocaloid group, ZANEEDS, and Chief Editor of Japan’s top cosplay magazine Cosmode, Tadaaki “Jacky” Dosai.

The annual event will take over the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Marina Bay Sands from 1 to 2 September 2012. Online ticketing opens 31 May 2012.

“This year, we want to showcase more aspects of pop culture from both East and West. Our fans can expect a greater mish-mash of personalities, exhibitors and offerings that will span across mass and niche segments of pop culture, including more cult toy designers and illustrators which fans have been asking for,” said Ms Yeow Hui Leng, Project Director of STGCC. The pop culture fest is co-organised by Reed Exhibitions Singapore and ReedPOP in the U.S., organiser of New York Comic Con (NYCC).

Exclusively drawing for Marvel Comics, Mark Brooks is well-known for his stunning cover work on comic titles such as X-Men Legacy, Uncanny X-Force, The Amazing Spider-Man, Dark Reign: Young Avengers and TRON. His current projects include illustrating the pages for the Brian Wood miniseries Wolverine and X-Men: Alpha and Omega.

An L.A. native, Tristan Eaton, began pursuing street art as a teenager, painting everything from billboard to dumpsters in London, Detroit and New York. The graffiti artist has done work for Nike, Hasbro and U.S. President Barack Obama’s voteforchange.com campaign. Tristan also has a permanent collection in New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MOMA).

Carlos and Ernesto East, better known as The Beast Brothers, are artist powerhouses who have created memorable works for Nike, Kidrobot, Reebok, Barcadi, Vans and Coachelle Boutique Art Auction.

Comic illustrator Mark Torres, whose graphic drawings has graced the pages of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, HOPE and Zombies vs. Robots, will also be making his debut at STGCC. He is also well-known for his attention-grabbing mix of traditional and digital art styles and twisted playfulness to his interpretation of subjects.

CHANXCO, the illustrator behind Japanese vocaloid group, ZANEEDS’ distinctively cute Chibi characters, will be coming to STGCC with DJ Zanio. Having performed at World Anime Festivals in Germany, Seattle and Los Angeles, fans can look forward to electrifying performances of popular anime and video game music.

Joining the line-up is illustrator and toy designer, Mark Nagata, one of the most recognised kaiju (Japanese monsters) illustrators in the world and the man behind the San Francisco-based Max Toy Company, which specialises in original custom and limited editions of kaiju toys and artwork hand painted by Mark. He has worked with prominent companies such as Lucasfilms, DC Comics, Hasbro Toys, IBM, and Sony. His colourful art style can be seen on over 40 cover paintings for R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps book series Give Yourself Goosebumps. Mark also owns one of the largest Ultraman toy collections in the world.

A Visit to ArtScience Musuem to meet Andy Warhol and Harry Potter

Hi Huneybees,

I finally got to ArtScience Museum and Andy Warhol: 15 Minutes Eternal and the Harry Potter : The Exhibition! Hubby's been super busy flying around and we finally got the time to catch the 2 latest exhibition at ArtScience Museum.

The company my hubby is working for, had their family day that weekend and of course I tagged along for a special priced package to see the exhibitions and to spend some quality time with hubby...

I woke up super early that day and I was excitedly tweeting all about it.

When we arrived at Marina Bay Sands, we approached the huge lotus structure and kids were already enjoying themselves with the activities...

Stepping into the Museum, we were greeted by the huge Harry Potter poster!

A shot of us, waiting to get in...
Meet mascot Harry Potter and Hermoine!
Mascot Professor Dumbledore.

First stop: Andy Warhol. The exhibition was a fruitful one. I think it's worth the wait to go see the works of my idol, to learn about his creative process and somehow get into his head. He was an icon himself and I learnt a fair bit from the exhibition. Inspiring and perhaps aspiring Andy Warhol-s should go take a look!

Getting to see the infamous pop art piece of Marilyn Monroe was already something to die for. His art pieces confidence and a sense of style that was un-compatible during his time. "Be Strong, Be Bold, Be Who You Are!"

We took photos for keepsake. Guess which one we chose to buy home?
Setting for photo shoot, wigs and paper glasses are for loan.

We went upstairs to understand a little more about the museum and saw a ton of kid doing their handicrafts works...

"Apparate!" and I'm downstairs.
Finally, going into the Harry Potter Exhibition!

OMG! It's the Flying Ford Anglia! It's was seen in  the summer of 1992 by Fred,George, and Ron Weasley to rescue Harry Potter, who was locked up in his room at the Dursleys' and had been unable to receive any mail from the Wizarding community as a result of Dobby's attempts to protect him.

Vroom Vroom! Going into the exhibition le!

This is the last point you can use your camera. After that, photography and videography is strictly not allowed.

It was exciting in the beginning when we got sorted into our houses, everyone hoped for their own favourite house. Everything beyond that was exhibitions of the costumes and props used during the filming of all 8 Harry Potter movies. It was like watching the kids grow up through the 8 movies and looking at the pieces of art (alot of details were put into the designing of the costumes and props), it brings back memories.

My most favourite was to see the Golden Snitch, but overall, it's a disappointment. So little interactions and the whole exhibition was so short! Photography and videography already not allowed, the merchandises were even priced sky high! I bought only a box of the mixed flavoured Jelly Beans for SGD$6 (Can't bear to eat...) I totally felt like they were just out for the money...

It would have be nicer if there were more interactivity, like at least animate the Giant Acromantula Spider or have a video to let us feel how it is to be in a wizard's battle. I still thought my memorizing of the spells will be put to good use. :(

The exhibition is so "dry", even a Harry Potter fan-girl was telling her mum she was sad, there was no Harry Potter, she felt no magic....

Afterwhich, we went back the ground level for the lucky draw as well as more photos around the Museum, before we head home.

Showcase by Singapore's Top Fashion Designer - Ashley Isham

Hi Huneybees,

Last night, I caught Ashley Isham's new collection launch at his Boutique by Ashley Isham in Orchard Central. Ashley Isham has always been my idol and made the red dot on the world map prominnent by making an impact on the world's fashion scene!

A photo with my idol!
Having dressed celebrities such as Florence Welch in 2010′s Brit Awards, Christina Aguilera in the 2007 Grammy Award, Kylie Minogue, Cheryl Cole, Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding, Nadine Coyle and Kimberly Walsh from girls Aloud, Erin O’Connor, Camilla Rutherford, Shinghai Shoniwa from the Noisettes, Pixie Lott and Lady Gaga. Ashley's high profile clientele includes stars of film and television, catwalk, music and many royalties. With such an impressive list of clientele and achievements, how can I not go support my idol right?

The launch was at Ashley’s 4th retail store Boutique by Ashley Isham in Orchard Central and the collections we were introduced are - A.I. by Ashley Isham S/S 2012, Christian Siriano S/S 2012, Catherine Deen S/S 2012, Ashley Isham A/W 2012 and Ashley Isham Menswear A/W 2012; accessories were by Sara Taseer, all of which, could be found in the store.

Whislst waiting for the show to begin, we shoped around the store...

On the econd floor is a tea room that serves crepes, cakes, Piper Heidseck champagne and cocktails, named Parlour by Ashley Isham.

After Bobby Tonelli's introduction, the show began with the A.I. by Ashley Isham S/S 2012 collection, followed by Catherine Deen S/S 2012,  Christian Siriano S/S 2012 and the climax was definitely Ashley Isham A/W 2012 for menswear and womenswear. It's an unconventional fashion show where models had to move up and down the long staircase. It's amazing how they strut their stuff in those 8-inch heels....

Special guest made a special appearance, with her long gorgeous hair, she strut through the store like a DIVA and  lept the guests entertained and giggling with her jokes.

Christian Siriano pieces reflected his daring and individual style, making every piece his signature. He has come a long way since Project Runway and I am very thankful to Ashley Isham for letting me catch the first glimpses of Christian Siriano S/S 2012 collection. :)

Yipee! And now for Ashley Isham's A/W 2012 collection. The colours are so bold and every piece is a wow factor. I'm loving the strong green snake skin lookalike fabric.

More clothings were found outside the store...

After the fashion show, we grabbed dinner and headed overthe Pangaea for the after party. My and hubby dedicated our night for Ashley Isham. :)
